What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy (OT) is a rehabilitation method commonly practiced to promote therapeutic engagement in the motions required to perform basic daily activities, such as getting dressed, holding objects, swallowing, chewing, and more. The purpose of Occupational Therapy is to foster health, independence, and wellbeing especially for patients with neurodegenerative conditions to live more normal lives.
Occupational Therapists carefully evaluate each patient’s needs in specific areas of their bodies before designing customised activities to foster proper functions in the respective area. Ultimately, Occupational Therapy plays an essential role not only in maintaining the general body wellness, but in improving the patients’ morale as well.
